53-Racing RACE round 3 Report.

Ottawa, ON. - June 23rd, 2009 -- Ottawa-based Elie 'EEL' Daccache of 53-Racing attended the third RACE regional round at Shannonville Motorsports Park near Belleville.

Elie made up for a poor qualifying effort in Pro 600 to post a spectacular 4th place finish!

Qualifying on Saturday was wet and, lacking crew and a good wet setup, Elie could not post a qualifying time. In the Pro 600 race, starting from the back row, Elie charged hard off the line and came out fighting for 5th spot. Early in the race Elie worked hard to hold off Frank Trombino who had previously gone off track and absentmindedly re-joined the race right in the path of Elie. This first incident caused him to slow down to avoid a collision as he lost touch with the lead group. On the last lap and in the last corner, a miscalculation by MJ Boucher put Elie on the final podium step until a pass under a waved yellow by Trombino usurped the podium position.

In the SuperBike final, again starting from the back of the grid, Elie charged hard off the restarted race to finish 9th. Elie took up the rear of a 1000cc freight train right to the finish line.

"This is my best weekend of the year so far. The development of my privateer 53-Racing ZX6R seems almost complete; I really can't imagine the bike could become any better than it is right now! To be able to taste that 600 podium and get denied really made me charge harder in the SuperBike race. I knew I had something for the 1000's in front of me, if the race was not cut short by the red flag, things would have been very different."
